T R Davies Testimonials
I instructed Tim to carry out a full structural survey in relation to the potential purchase of an investment property. Tim reacted immediately and was able to inspect the property personally within a day or two and turned his report around very quickly which enabled me to make a swift decision on whether to proceed.
Tim's report was incredibly thorough and was a critical part in my investment decision.
At all stages I was kept informed of progress and dealt with the principal, Tim, rather than the matter being delegated. This gave great comfort and Tim was always available by phone or email, after the report had been delivered, to answer any queries or give additional ad hoc advice thereafter.
I would highly recommend Tim and his services.

We just wanted to thank you very much for a wonderful garage report. The detail is quite amazing. This covers all the faults we could see and a few more besides. The way these are described is excellent.
Your service is very professional and the report produced first rate. Your comments on the garage work has certainly helped us no end. We did wonder at some point in the year if we were being picky about it all?
Thank you very much for all the trouble you have taken.

Mr Davies has provided vital expert evidence in a number of Fraud cases investigated by our department. He has conducted examinations of driveways, building extensions, windows, fascias & guttering and roofs. He has then presented his findings in the form of a written report which has always been presented in a professional manner, extremely detailed and including all the facts and data required to provide the court with clear and cogent evidence. On every occasion that he has provided reports and where applicable, given evidence, the prosecution has been successful.
Mr Davies has always shown a high level of professional competence when dealing with our investigation team, the complainants and also the Defence during court proceedings. His knowledge and skill has been of such a high standard that on each occasion that the defence have employed their own expert witnesses to present reports, they have been unable to dispute his findings and as a result have not presented their own expert evidence at the subsequent court proceedings.
Mr Davies has excellent communication skills and has displayed these skills when dealing with the public (complainants), many of whom are elderly and vulnerable, and when giving evidence at Court. He gave evidence at a five day trial in October 2013 which led to the conviction of two persons for Fraud, one receiving a five year prison sentence. There is no doubt that without the evidence of the applicant, the case would not have succeeded.
I would recommend Tim as I have always found him to be a highly skilled, professional witness who deals with all matters in a courteous, diligent and expeditious manner. I am also aware and can confirm that my colleagues within the other Trading Standards Departments in Wales are of a similar opinion.

Dear Tim
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance in the investigation into the activities of Jeffrey and James Tawse. Operation Genesis commenced in September 2014 when National Trading Standards - Scambusters Wales circulated an Intelligence product regarding the father and son to partner agencies in Wales. They were cold calling elderly/vulnerable persons across the region and deceiving them into paying for poor drive cleaning/building work.
Following the circulation, officers from Cwmbran arrested them at the address of an elderly man who they had taken to a local bank to withdraw £1,000 to pay for such work. The Tawses were interviewed by my Investigators on three occasions during 2014/2015. On each occasion they refused to answer questions about the work they had/had not carried out. This meant that every scene had to be examined in order to prove that the work had/had not taken place and to what standard. A total of fifteen victims were identified across South Wales. They suffered a combined financial loss of £71,000.
During April and May 2015 you carried out inspections at the addresses where the alleged offences had occurred. Your report confirmed that where the Tawses had completed work, the quality of their work was well below the accepted standards and not worth what the consumers had paid. You were also able to state that no work had been carried out on the roof of one address despite the elderly consumer being charged £1,450.00 for roof repairs.
Your reports were thorough, professional and easy to understand. The information that you provided was an essential part of the evidence that resulted in a guilty plea by the Tawses on 18th September 2016.
On Thursday 29th September 2016, Jeffrey Tawse was sentenced to four years imprisonment for Conspiracy to Defraud Consumers and two years (consecutive) for Money Laundering. His son James was sentenced to two years imprisonment for Conspiracy to Defraud Consumers.
Thanks again for your assistance throughout the investigation.
